Northwest Carpenters Health and Security Plan


The Board of Trustees has sole and exclusive discretionary authority to construe the provisions of the plan and to determine any and all questions pertaining to administration, eligibility, and benefit entitlement, including the right to remedy possible ambiguities and inconsistencies or omissions. The Board of Trustees have delegated certain administrative processes to Northwest Carpenters Trusts, certain network providers and medical review organizations. In administering the plan, these organization may utilize their internal guidelines, medical protocols and third-party review organizations to determine whether or not specific services or supplies are covered under the terms of the plan. However, neither Northwest Carpenters Trusts, network provider nor any medical review organization has authority to interpret or change the provisions of the plan.

No union employee, including union officers and business agents, no employer or employer representative, and no representative of the Northwest Carpenters Trusts administration office or any other organization is authorized to interpret the plan or commit the Trustees on any matter. Any interpretation by any entity is subject to review by the Board of Trustees. Any interpretation or determination by the Board of Trustees shall be conclusive on all persons affected thereby. All benefits are provided to the extent that there is currently assets available to provide the benefits.
